Direct Debit payments are a necessary, if not pretty mundane, part of life. They make it easy to stay on top of regular payments for everything from your gym membership, to council tax and pet insurance.
We’re pleased to announce this week, that you can now use your GBP account to pay Direct Debits. This feature is only available to customers with local GBP account details (i.e. account number and sort code) at the moment. We’re working on bringing it to more customers across more countries, so keep an eye out for updates.
More convenient, more trackable
Setting up a Direct Debit using your Revolut account details is a great idea for a couple of reasons. The first is convenience. Instead of having to keep track of two accounts in two apps (us and your bank), you’ll be able to manage your regular payments from the one app you know and love (hint: that’s us).
The second benefit of setting up a Direct Debit with Revolut is the ability to track your payments. Any Direct Debit payment which leaves your Revolut account, will automatically be covered by your in-app analytics, meaning you’ll be able to see when your money leaves, and how much you’ve spent in total.
How to set up a Direct Debit
You can set up a Direct Debit with the service you wish to pay, using your Revolut account details. Let’s take paying your pet insurance as an example.
- To start, you’ll need to find your account details. You’ll find these in the app by tapping on ‘Details’ when viewing your GBP account in the ‘Accounts’ tab (make sure you’re looking at the ‘Local’, not ‘SWIFT’ details). Here you’ll find your details: a sort code (04-00-75) and account number (01020304)
- Use these account details to set up a Direct Debit with the person you want to pay
- Once it’s set up, you’ll see your Direct Debit in the app under Payments > Scheduled payments
